I am very sad to report an act of vandalism here on the TJES campus. On Monday, January 30th, we discovered a large rock that had been thrown through the center of our large blue slide. This has been reported to law enforcement and we are in the process of trying to work on replacing this large and expensive piece of equipment. If you are on the TJES campus during non-school hours and observe any problems please contact law enforcement and the school. This time of the year is very important to review your goals both personal and professionally. If you are like me, those resolutions to exercise or diet have long faded away and everyday life has taken over. On a professional level, I have been working on a great deal of reflection over school and professional goals. I have received a lot of feedback from our staff about how they feel that I am doing. I have used this in combination with other school data to decide if I am on track with the school goals. This is being shared with my supervisor as part of my mid-year evaluation. I am proud to report that we have some of the most dedicated staff I have ever worked with when it comes to putting Children First. It is my goal to continue to help this school achieve success for its children and staff. You have probably read or heard about the Virginia student that passed away due to an allergic reaction encountered at school. Nothing scares me more than the helplessness this family must have felt in this situation. It is hard to imagine having to worry about this type of danger with someone we all take for granted…food. We have experienced a couple of concerning incidents here at TJES regarding food brought in as a treat to be shared at lunch. I am in the process of reviewing our current procedures with how we handle food brought in to share. I have consulted School Board Office personnel and parents who struggle with this daily. I plan to meet with our Leadership Team next Friday to make any adjustments that are appropriate. If you like to share with us in this matter I welcome your input. Please feel free to email me at agreenough@bedford.k12.va.us or call the school at 534-6159.

Thank you for your continued support!
